Gurney Plaza

Gurney Plaza is a waterfront shopping mall in Penang. Opened in 2001, it has three anchor tenants: Parkson Grand, the 12-screen Golden Screen Cinemas and Cold Storage supermarket. Additionally, the nine-storey mall houses over 380 stores with brands such as Coach, Fossil, Versace, and more. Approximately three km northwest of Georgetown, located along the popular Gurney Drive, Gurney Plaza is the second-largest mall on the island and is 858,000sqft in size. Gurney Paragon Mall

Gurney Paragon Mall is a new beachfront lifestyle mall set to open along Gurney Drive, Penang. Similar to Kuala Lumpur’s The Gardens @ Mid Valley, the 700,000sqft complex is a mixed development project comprising a lifestyle mall, an outdoor dining strip, office tower and two luxury apartment blocks. Phase 1 of Gurney Paragon Mall was completed in December 2011, with a number of trendy al fresco restaurants and bars opening their doors: the rest of the mall is slated to open in early 2013. KOMTAR

KOMTAR is located in central Georgetown, along the north-south Jalan Penang and east-west Jalan Magazine. The 65-storey high-rise and mall is one of the most prominent landmarks in Penang with a viewing deck on the 58th floor offering views of the island and across the straits to Penang’s mainland. The cylindrical skyscraper is the sixth-tallest building in Malaysia and Penang’s tallest structure. It towers over Georgetown’s western corner, a section of town unofficially known as Chinatown since it is dominated by clusters of shuttered two-storey shop-houses and kongsis (clan houses) that have stood here in a variety of forms since the late 18th century. One-Stop Midlands Park Centre

Consisting of 200 retail outlets, One-Stop Midlands Park Centre is considered a bargains galore amongst some. Aside from the mainstream brands, its two concourse floors are occupied with traders selling arts and crafts items as well as religious paraphernalia such as ceramics, paintings, pottery and feng shui charms. The mall’s sixth floor is dedicated to computers and IT-related products. A bowling alley and a rooftop water theme park add to the excitement, while Funzone and Great World Park on the seventh floor offer simulated fun. The Berjaya Hotel is just next to this shopping complex.

Penang Plaza

A quiet shopping mall right next to New World Plaza, Penang Plaza features two floors of retail space with a huge Giant Supermarket as its anchor tenant. Located upstairs is a bargain bookstore and a furniture showroom. Good for getting a few essentials.

Prangin Mall

Prangin Mall

The largest shopping mall in George Town, Prangin Mall is considered a bargain-hunter’s paradise despite its mainstream appeal. Featuring five floors of retail, dining and entertainment outlets, the mall also has a cinema as well as a games arcade on the top floor. This mall is a popular haunt of Penang’s youngsters.

Queensbay Mall

Queensbay Mall is the largest shopping centre in Penang. Minutes away from the Penang Bridge, it is a waterfront complex in Bayan Lepas near the airport. The mall is home to mid-level restaurants, branded clothing stores, electronics shops and even a large Golden Screen Cinemas complex. Spanning 73 acres, the 2.5 million-sqft complex sports the tagline ‘It’s all happening here!’ and indeed it is one of the island’s most popular shopping centres.
