Gurney Paragon Mall is a new beachfront lifestyle mall set to open along Gurney Drive, Penang. Similar to Kuala Lumpur’s The Gardens @ Mid Valley, the 700,000sqft complex is a mixed development project comprising a lifestyle mall, an outdoor dining strip, office tower and two luxury apartment blocks.
Phase 1 of Gurney Paragon Mall was completed in December 2011, with a number of trendy al fresco restaurants and bars opening their doors: the rest of the mall is slated to open in early 2013. The mall’s outdoor dining stretch is set within a converted restored heritage building – the St. Joseph’s Novitiate – with the main complex’s style taking its inspiration from the chapel’s colonial architecture.
