Ah Keat Seafood Restaurant

This restaurant famous with fresh live seafoods. Beside on the seafood, this restaurant also offers some signature dishes which consist of chicken, pork and local seafood. This family owned and operated restaurant offers a comfortable atmosphere and is open for dinner only. This restaurant is situated in Jalan Raja Uda, and the best route there from the island would be taking the Butterworth Outer Ring Road. After the dinner, you may have a walk to Nine Emperor Temple. This temple is lighted up beautifully at night. Do not miss out the opportunities on taken some beautiful scenes over this temple.

Chai Leng Park Food Street (Wai Sek Gai)

Wai Sek Kai ("Food street" in Chinese) is one of the most energetic street at night in Chai Leng Park, Butterworth. After the sunset, this particular street will turned into a hawker food haven with stalls lining up from the beginning right till the end of the street. There are around 50 hawker stalls in Chai Leng Park Wai Sek Gai selling different kinds of foods. If you are a food lover. You shouldn't miss out this particular location.

  • Remarks: Most of the stalls will closed during Chinese New Year
  • Cuisine: Hawker food such as char kuay teow, chee cheong fun, satay, wan tan mee, curry noodles, rojak pasembur and ikan bakar (grilled fish wrapped in banana leaf)

  • How to get there: After passing by Pacific Megamall on right hand side, go straight down until you can make a U-Turn (over a flyover). After that turn left on the first junction (There is a sign board saying turn left into Chai Leng Park). Go straight for awhile, and on the 3rd junction turn left, go until the end turn right and right again.

Chaw Choon Restaurant

This restaurant business started nearly over 30 years ago (perhaps longer). When the 1st earlier generation used to sell at a roadside stall at Heng Choon Thian Road. Where by today, the shop at Heng Choon Thian still remained but they had expanded their business to Raja Uda to cope with the large amount of cusotmers. This restaurant offers a very good dim sum but in a very reasonable price! There got many variety of dim sum that allow you to pick and choose. Try to avoid to go on during the weekends and public holidays. It will be very packed & crowded!

Jalan Raja Uda

This area used to be the longest road in Malaysia. Along this road there are various hawker centers and most of the Penang food can be found here. There are at least two main morning markets along this road as well, one if off to Jalan Ong Yi How and another one is further up north and more popularly known as 'Apollo'.

New development along the south of Raja Uda is known as 'Wooly Avenue' and this houses new shoplots and restaurants.

Visitors can easily find a lot of delicious hawker foods. The food is absolutely wonderful but at a very cheap price.

Restoran Lin Koay Teow Th’ng (7th Village Guo Tiao Thang)

Kuay Teow Th'ng (in Hokkian pronouciation) is same meaning with Hor Fun Soup. This restaurant is very famous in Raja Uda. Once you mention this Chit Long Koay Teow Th'ng, the local will mention this restaurant to you. This outlet is not visible from the main road of Raja Uda but your best indication will be a Petronas Station which is quite nearby to this restaurant. Their most famous food is Koay Teow Th'ng! This is the food that you must try in Penang!

Bukit Tambun, (Seberang Perai Selatan)

If you are on the North-South highway heading towards Penang, make a trip to Bukit Tambun for lunch or dinner. It is famous for its seafood restaurants, offering a variety of seafood delicacies at attractive prices! It is conveniently located along the highway and has the fishing village feel and smell to it. Watching the slow moving river is soothing after some 4 hours trip (from KL to Penang).

This is not one particular restaurant, but a whole stretch of restaurants. It is situated in Bukit Tambun and easily assessable from the North-South Highway to Ipoh, a 30-minute drive from Penang Island to Ipoh. Upon reaching Bukit Tambun, you will go through a small road and reach the end of the road. This is where all the restaurants are, like Prawn village and Fish Village.

Floating Seafood Restaurant

This restaurant’s dining area is sitting on a huge man made pond with lots of live fish swimming around. Once you step into this restaurant, you will be able to see some of the seafood on display to help customer make their orders. You can pick and choose what ever seafoods you like and ask their chef to specially cook for you.
