QEII Restaurant in Penang

Georgetown Restaurants & Dining

QEII

QEII is a posh, fine-dining restaurant that transforms into a buzzing, alfresco nightclub with vivacious house and dance music as the night progresses. Overlooking the marina and built on stilts over the water, it was opened in 1997 and was listed as one of Malaysian Tatler’s Best Restaurants in 2011.

Putting an upscale spin to the idea of a ‘party by the sea’, the interior design of QEII restaurant is reminiscent of Frangipani’s in Changkat Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. Serving up Western continental cuisine, the generous food portions do not disappoint, making it a great place to enjoy a meal, accompanied by the sound of waves and cool breezes, before you don your kicks for a night of dancing and drinks.

Starters & Mains

A place for serious foodies, dinner at QEII restaurant is a simple yet elegant affair: start off with the lobster bisque, a creamy soup of lobster puree stirred in with white cream, white wine and cognac. Garnished with coriander, there is a healthy sprinkling of lobster meat chunks in the rich broth.

For mains try out with the linguini carbonara: one of the best pasta dishes on the menu, with a generous serving of noodles in white cream sauce, garnished with beef bacon bits, sliced mushrooms and egg.

Wood-Fired Pizzas

If you are in the mood to try one of QEII restaurant’s signature wood-fired pizzas, you will not go wrong with The Godfather: an eight-inch pie topped with sautéed spicy clams, dried chilli, sweet and spicy sauce, tomato puree, mozzarella cheese and cilantro.

If you are feeling adventurous, opt for the unique Soho pizza: its toppings include three types of cheese (cheddar, mozzarella and gorgonzola), pepperoni, onions, fresh pears, pine nuts and filed green garnishing. Also popular among Penagites is the Penang Hot: the sauce used is spicy and toppings include fresh prawns, onions, garlic, chopped basil and mozzarella cheese.

Dessert & Good to Know

End your dinner at QEII restaurant with the chocolate volcano: a light, fluffy butter cake with layered white chocolate mousse, fresh strawberries, chopped walnuts and raspberry jam sauce. Also not to be missed is the pear crumble: a classic take on the traditional dessert, with white Anglaise cream and strawberry and raspberry jam.

QEII restaurant is located along Church Street Pier, a short walk away from the Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower; the Penang ferry terminal is located just beyond Church Street Pier.
